Whether you're interested in helping out with fundraising or our day services, have an idea for an event, are thinking of undertaking a personal challenge or fundraising activity in support of Les Amis, or are keen to support our recycling initiative, volunteering with Les Amis is a great way to develop your skills and experience, and meet new people, whilst simultaneously helping to make a difference to the lives of residents and service users with learning disabilities and/or associated conditions.
We will provide you with a clear outline of what is expected, as well the necessary training and guidance, and will always have qualified staff on hand to give advice and assistance. All volunteers will need to attend a short induction and volunteer briefing, but for specific roles we will also require you to undertake an enhanced DBS check and attend mandatory disability awareness training.
Our current volunteering opportunities are listed below:
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact our fundraising team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her on 850630. Alternatively, you can click on the 'Contact us' link in the "Getting in touch" section below or go to www.lesamis.org.je/contact
We also offer opportunities for companies and organisations to support the work we do both through volunteering and sponsorship.
And we are always looking for people with high-level skills and experience, especially if they have previously worked in a similar sector, so don’t hesitate to call us if you feel you can be of benefit to our organisation.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined by the European Commission as “the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society”.
CSR can take many forms, but one of the most common is for businesses to partner with charities and other organisations to improve the quality of life of people in the local community.
This partnership working can include different elements, such as direct financial support, practical help and assistance, and volunteering.
Building trust and developing strategic partnerships in the communities in which they operate is key to securing a company’s long-term sustainability and research has shown that companies who have employee volunteering programmes have more motivated and engaged employees, better productivity and, as a result of their improved public image, are more likely to attract new talent – notwithstanding the positive impact on society of the charities and non-profit organisations they are supporting.
Through volunteering, staff will have the opportunity to develop their skills and experience which will help them become more effective and confident in the workplace, and in other situations.
Employee volunteering can also bring greater understanding and co-operation between colleagues and co-workers, an enhanced appreciation of their own (and other people’s) capabilities, and it encourages better communication, team work, decision making, and problem solving, as well as adding to a greater sense of wellbeing.
Volunteering has benefits for everyone - it benefits communities, it benefits businesses, and it benefits the volunteers.
