Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined by the European Commission as “the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society”. This can take many forms, but one of the most common is for businesses to partner with charities and other organisations to improve the quality of life of people in the local community.
Partnership working can include different elements, such as direct financial support or practical help and assistance with projects and events.
Building trust and developing strategic partnerships in the communities in which they operate is key to securing a company’s long-term sustainability and research has shown that companies who have robust CSR initiatives have more motivated and engaged employees, better productivity and, as a result of their improved public image, are more likely to attract new talent.
Through partnership working with Les Amis, staff will have the opportunity to not only develop skills and experience, but they will gain a better understanding of working alongside adults with a learning disability. This in turn will help them become more effective and confident in the workplace.
CSR has benefits for everyone - it benefits communities, it benefits businesses, and it benefits the volunteers.
