Charity golf event raises money for vital services

Jan 23, 2025

Nearly £7,000 has been donated by La Moye Golf Club which chose Les Amis its Charity of the Year 2024. The money was raised at last year’s Charity Golf Day where there was a donation from every player and a raffle with prizes such as a private master chef service and a Porsche Silverstone Track Experience.

The Les Amis Choir also performed at a Christmas Fair held at the club with a total raised from that and the Golf Day of £6,658.

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “Our charity’s roles are to care for people with learning disabilities, some of whom have complex needs, while also helping others reach their full potential. We had an extremely successful 2024, with more of our service users gaining employment and moving into their own apartments. We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from La Moye Golf Club and the recognition that they have given to the vital work that we do. Les Amis is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025 and as we say thank you to our supporters, I am hoping more islanders can join us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of our members and support the contribution that learning disabled adults make to Jersey. We need their backing to continue our work and this donation from the Club will be a massive help to us in running our services this year.”

A series of events and celebrations planned for 2025 to mark 50 years of empowering people with learning disabilities will be launched in February, including a campaign to celebrate people who turn 50 this year.

Samuel Nolan, the Captain of La Moye Golf Club, added: “On behalf of all the members of La Moye Golf Club and those others who have generously donated to our fundraising efforts, I extend my sincere thanks. We are very aware of the difficulties facing all charities in these difficult times and are pleased to have been able to make a contribution to this deserving cause.”
