Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day 2026

Mar 12, 2026

Join Les Amis in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day on Saturday 21st March!

Every year, World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated by wearing brightly coloured odd socks to celebrate individuality and show support for people with Down Syndrome.

This year's theme is Together Against Loneliness, something that many people with Down Syndrome and other learning disabilities experience.

Loneliness is not only damaging for our mental health and happiness, but can also harm our physical health.

At Les Amis, we strive to combat loneliness through initiatives such as our thriving Social Club and Les Amis Choir. Not only do these provide a great sense of community, but foster new friendships, increase confidence and broaden social circles.

You can find out more about this year's theme here.

Les Amis will be donning their odd socks and holding a bake sale at Brooks Street, 10am-3pm on the day - pop down, say hello and a grab a sweet treat!

If you'll be sporting some fun socks, send us a pic or tag us on social media - we'd love to celebrate together!

See coverage on Bailiwick Express and Channel Eye.
