Les Amis Choir: Seen, heard and valued

Jun 23, 2024

A final flourish to end Learning Disability Awareness Week (17-23 June), with the theme 'Do You See Me? (Be seen, heard and valued)', Les Amis choir comprised of over 30 residents, service users and staff performed alongside Cowbridge Male Voice Choir to fundraise for Family Nursing & Home Care.

The choir sang in front of more than 500 people and received two standing ovations and so much positive feedback since. They received special mention in the CEO of the Institute of Health & Social Care Management's weekly editorial.

CEO Jon Wilks, who sang with the Cowbridge Choir, remarked: "... the evening will, above all, be remembered for the joy that was spread through the wholehearted and completely committed performance by Les Amis.

For all of you who work in social care and healthcare, helping to make people's lives fulfilling and enjoyable... You create an environment in which people flourish and feel appreciated and understood. You promote the removal of stigma and stereotype. You allow freedom of expression...

Yours is the worthiest of all careers... We should never take your work for granted."

Les Amis is so proud of the hard work of all of those involved, on and off stage. Thank you for helping Les Amis prove that disability does not mean inability!
