Jersey Keeps Kicking on for Les Amis in 2024

On Saturday 1 June, Kick-On returned for its third year in a row. Congratulations to this year's champions, Hacquoil & Cook! See all the colour and fun in the gallery of images below.

This year also held a special place in the heart of Les Amis, following the passing of a dear, long-term service user, Wendy. In 2023, Wendy played in Les Amis' exhibition match comprised of residents, service users and staff. Wendy was a big football fan, and enjoyed the training sessions and being part of the team, Les Amis FC.

In memory, this year's tournament featured an exhibition match with the Jersey Wanderers versus The Wendys, comprised of Les Amis staff and friends. The friendly match saw the ladies compete for the Wendy Cobden cup, which was presented to the winning team by Wendy's dad. Mr Cobden remarked, "Thank you for honouring Wendy. She'd have loved today, especially as her team, Manchester United, recently won the Premier League!"

We are so grateful to all the teams who entered and competed with such style, energy and passion.

We'd also like to thank Les Quennevais School for hosting the tournament, the volunteer refs and all those who came along with cakes, helping hands and supportive spirit and cheer!
