Les Amis NED shortlisted for IoD Award

Aug 02, 2021

Les Amis is proud to reveal that Andrew Treharne, has been shortlisted for an IoD Jersey Director of the Year Award in the Non-Executive Director category.

Andrew has been a NED with Les Amis since 2015 having worked with the charity in a less formal capacity prior to this. He joins two other finalists in the NED category which recognises leadership within companies and organisations in Jersey.

Joining the board in 2015, Andrew implemented a new approach to financial management to ensure the charity has a robust and transparent reporting process to assist the Board in their decision making. It helped the charity ensure its staff remained on full pay throughout the pandemic, even when isolating when they would normally only be entitled to sick pay.

Les Amis is creating a Nursing Unit to cater for elderly and complex needs among people with learning difficulties. It will be the first of its kind in the island and Andrew has been supporting this critical project.

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “Andrew took the lead on seeking funding from alternative sources to cover the cost of PPE for our care staff during the Covid pandemic. Les Amis did not have the option to reduce services during the pandemic and Andrew secured funding to help offset the increase costs we faced. Being an NED is a voluntary role and we rely on people like Andrew who give up their time and expertise to ensure our services continue to be provided to our residents and service users. We are delighted that he has been shortlisted in these awards. It demonstrates his selfless commitment to Les Amis and we are very lucky to have someone of such high calibre as Andrew representing our organisation.”
