Be a Les Amis Legend!.....our Plankathon is back!

Aug 28, 2017

Les Amis is challenging Islander’s to test their endurance at the Church House Hall in the Island’s second ever Plankathon - 12pm – 3pm on Friday 27 October for company teams of five and 11am – 4pm on Saturday 28 October for individuals.

Last year the event raised more than £400 for the award-winning charity. To help raise even more money, Les Amis’ corporate partner ZEDRA is holding the ZEDRA Challenge on Friday. Teams of five (£5 per person) will compete for the highest cumulative planking time to see which company is the best at planking. Qualified physical trainers will be on hand to ensure the correct position and to time efforts.

On Saturday all Islanders are encouraged to test their planking ability by coming to Church House Hall (opposite the Town Church), giving a £5 donation to Les Amis to enter and then taking the test. There will also be a junior competition running.

Planking is a global fitness phenomenon that helps to build strength in the core, upper and lower body. There will be prizes including free personal training sessions and nutritional advice for the best individual effort (male and female) and the best corporate team (teams of five with individual times added together) will win the Plankathon trophy and serious bragging rights.

Les Amis PR, Marketing and Fundraising Manager Lauren Carré said: “The Plankathon was such a fun event last year we decided to spread it across two days for 2017. So on Friday lunchtime rally your team to challenge ZEDRA and then if you are in town on Saturday make sure you pop into the Church House Hall again, it will only take five minutes and you could leave a planking champion.”

The entry fee and any further donations to the Les Amis Plankathon will go towards the £500,000 fundraising target to fund the equipment for Les Amis’ new nursing and complex needs unit.
