Residents at Les Amis will be putting their culinary skills to the test next week under the scrutiny of two expert judges who have trained hundreds of Island chefs.
Les Amis Mastercook will take place at Highlands College on Thursday 21 April. Islanders supported by the charity will work alongside students at the College’s Academy of Culinary Arts to create dishes from a box of ingredients. Inspired by the popular BBC programme Masterchef, their creations will then be judged by two accomplished chefs: Eileen Buicke-Kelly, Director of Culinary Arts and Catering Operations at the Academy, and Chef Lecturer Adrian Goldsborough.
The morning of cooking should be a fun occasion, with Les Amis residents and Highlands students teaming up to display their flair in the kitchen.
Lauren Carré, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Les Amis, said that residents were already excited about testing their culinary skills. She said: “This is the third Les Amis Mastercook at Highlands College, which follows our hugely successful 40 th anniversary competition last year, and our residents can’t wait to get back into the kitchen. We are building a strong relationship with Highlands College, having recently opened a new day service at the College’s Adult Education Centre, and I would like to thank Eileen, Adrian and the College for their continuing support.”
Eileen Buicke-Kelly said: “It was a pleasure to host Les Amis Mastercook as part of the charity’s 40 th anniversary celebrations and our students can’t wait to get involved this year. It promises to be a fun morning for students and Les Amis residents, as well as the judges.”
