Jersey Motoring Festival

Jul 04, 2016

Les Amis will be revving up its fundraising efforts by having a stand at this weekend’s Jersey Festival of Motoring.

The charity, which supports Islanders with a learning disability and/or associated condition, will be explaining its services to festival-goers as well as accepting donations for its essential work. Les Amis has been kindly invited to the Festival by the Falles Motor Group, which is celebrating its 90 th anniversary this year.

This is not the first time that the charity has teamed up with the family-owned group. Last year, Falles supported Les Amis by raffling one of its Renault cars at its Bagot Road showroom.

Lauren Carré, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Les Amis, said: “We’re really excited to be at this weekend’s Festival and our thanks go to the Falles Motor Group for making it happen. We support over 200 vulnerable Islanders which is only possible with the solid backing of businesses such as Falles. We wish them a very happy anniversary”.

Graeme Le Cornu, Sales Manager at Bagot Road Garage, said: “We’ve always enjoyed supporting Les Amis and I’ll never forget the atmosphere at last year’s raffle draw – Les Amis certainly knows how to put the fun into fundraising. We are proud to be a long-established Jersey business helping another.”

Les Amis will have a stand in the Falles Motor Group area on Saturday and Sunday in the People’s Park. The Festival continues this evening with sprints along Victoria Avenue. Other events include hill climbs and a ‘Wall of Death’ stunt show.

A massive thank you goes to the Falles Motor Group for inviting us along as we are supporting them with Bagot Road’s 90th Anniversary as they supported us with our 40th Anniversary last year. Working in partnership with different services and businesses is imperative for Les Amis to operate and we cannot thank Falles enough for supporting us over the last couple of years.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our residents to get involved with some fundraising in the community. We would also like to thank everyone who supported us at the festival; the generosity of islanders often overwhelms us. It was great to meet you all and discuss what we do and the services we provide.
