Donations Privacy Notice
When you make a donation to Les Amis, we use your personal information to
process your donation and meet our legal and financial obligations.
What information is involved
When you choose to donate via PayPal, the following information may be processed:
Name
Email address
Donation amount
Transaction and payment reference details
Les Amis does not receive your full payment card details.
PayPal’s role
PayPal acts as a payment processor on our behalf. When you proceed to PayPal,
your information is processed in accordance with PayPal’s own privacy notice and
security controls.
Lawful basis for processing
We process donation information on the following lawful bases:
Contract – to process your donation
Legal obligation – for accounting, audit, and anti‑fraud requirements
Legitimate interests – to manage and record charitable donations
International transfers
PayPal may process personal data outside Jersey, the UK or the EEA. Where this
occurs, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy
decisions are applied by PayPal.
How long we keep your information
Donation records are retained in accordance with our financial retention
requirements (currently 6 years) and are then securely deleted or anonymised.
Alternative ways to donate
If you would prefer not to use PayPal, please contact us to discuss alternative
donation methods, such as:
Bank transfer
Cheque
Your rights
You have rights under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, including the right to access your information or raise concerns about how it is used.
