Les Amis Welcomes New Board Members and Trustees

Aug 02, 2024

Les Amis is delighted to announce the appointment of a new non-executive director, two new Trustees and a new Chair. After being a champion for people with learning disabilities at Les Amis and Mencap for 32 years, Stewart Mourant MBE has retired as Chair of Trustees of Les Amis Inc. He is replaced by Leslie Norman MBE who returns after a year’s break, resuming his support for the charity which spans over 40 years.

The latest additions to Les Amis’ non-executive leadership team include the former headteacher of St George’s School, a Registered Manager of the Jersey Cheshire Home and the former Director of Policy at the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), providing a welcome boost to the skills and experience required to support and advise the executive team.

Cormac Timothy joins Les Amis Limited’s Board of Directors, having been the headteacher of St George’s School for ten years. He was a Trustee of Autism Jersey for 10 years and a member of the Parent Carer Forum, where he contributed to the inclusion reviews carried out by the National Association of Special Educational Needs.

Sarah Jemson was the Brain Injury Co-ordinator for the Government of Jersey before she took on her current role at the Jersey Cheshire Home, caring for adult islanders with disabilities. And Vycki Price has over 20 years’ experience working in compliance, risk and governance after being a Director at State Street, Sabre Advisory and the JFSC. Sarah and Vycki join Les Amis Inc. as Trustees.

Paul Routier MBE, Chair of Les Amis Limited and Trustee, said: “Firstly, I would like to thank Stewart for his many years of dedicated service to Les Amis. Under his leadership, Les Amis has grown into one of Jersey’s largest and most loved charities – we are so grateful for all the energy and wisdom over the years. We rely on the support of the community and from our wonderful staff and volunteers, so we are always excited when new people bring their skills to advise the team and guide our future direction. I have worked with Leslie for many years, and with Vycki, Sarah and Cormac joining the team, I’m confident that Les Amis and its support of Islanders with learning disabilities will remain strong far into the future.”
