Spring is certainly in the air now that we have finally made it to April! We can’t wait to start spending more time outdoors enjoying the sunshine. As ever, lots has been going on at Les Amis. Read on to find out about Legends, swimmers, chefs and singers…
Run a mile and make us smile
Les Amis Legend Ola (and a few helpers) ran 50k in under five hours to raise an impressive £500.50 for Les Amis. Thank you Ola and everyone who came down and joined her on the day. But, most importantly, thank you to all those who donated. Without your support Les Amis would cease to exist. Ola’s has proposed a 24hr Runathon as her next Les Amis Legend fundraiser! Watch this space for more information coming soon…

Lions Swimarathon Jersey
Without a doubt the Swimarathon is one of our favourite annual events at Les Amis. We are proud to say that this year we filled SIX whole lanes!
Some highlights of the event this year was Pierre dive bombing into the pool, Martin’s girlfriend Kim cheering him on with an impressive homemade banner and sharing the pool with ZEDRA our proud partners, who sponsored our Swimarathon team.
We would also like to thank Sugareef for feeding us all with a burger and a pint once the swimming was done. It certainly was well deserved by all our swimmers.
Looking forward to… Mastercook
On April 28th we will be holding our 4th annual Mastercook Competition. Teams of four residents coupled with a Highlands Cookery Student will be working against the clock to cook up a feast in the kitchen.
This year Eileen, Director of the Culinary Arts, Hospitality Studies and Catering Operations at Highlands and Adrian, Highlands College Culinary Art teacher will be judging the competition once more. They will also be joined by Ashley Cox, Managing Director of ZEDRA Jersey, our charitable partner. Eileen, Adrian and Ashley will be keeping a close eye on the cooking antics to make sure things don’t get too hot in the kitchens!
Looking forward to... Pet Week
Who doesn’t love animals? Many of our residents love animals but unfortunately cannot own their own pet.
So, to make sure they get the chance to spend time with some beloved furry friends we are hosting our first ever Pet Week from 24th - 28th April. This will include a sponsored dog walk on Saturday 29th April, a pet ‘Meet and Greet’ with award winning PAT and Crufts dog, Sausage and lots more!
Can you play the piano or the keyboard? Then the Les Amis choir needs you!
The Les Amis residents are in need of a pianist to help lead the Les Amis choir. The choir meets every Wednesday and Friday from2pm – 3:30pm at Bethlehem Church in St Mary’s. For those who like to catch the bus, Bethlehem Church is conveniently placed at a No. 7 bus stop!
